The National Housing Enterprise (NHE) handed over 81 houses to residents of Outapi on Thursday, 27 October 2022.The 81 houses were constructed through an innovative partnership between NHE and Tona Trading Holdings valued at N$29 million. Hon. Erastus Uutoni, Minister of Urban and Rural Development officiated at the event. ‘’I am happy that we are indeed putting in the effort and doing something about the housing situation in the country and not folding our arms because of the economic situation, he applauded. Mr. Sam SHIVUTE, NHE Board Chairperson, emphasised that NHE is delighted to handover this completed housing project as it bears witness to the hard work that is has done to fulfil the responsibility towards the housing needs of communities. Mr. Wilhelmina Shikongo, a Police Officer, and a resident of Outapi, was overjoyed to receive keys to her brand-new home. ‘’I am so happy that I no longer need to pay rent, and hereby thank NHE and the Government of Namibia for making housing a reality in our town,’’ she said.
